Time-dependent transit fare optimization with elastic and spatially distributed demand

چکیده

Motivated by the lack of microeconomic models that optimize time-dependent transit fares based on realistic demand formulations, this paper presents a model for design pricing scheme considering elastic and spatiotemporally distributed demand. To spatial distribution demand, line with multiple origin–destination pairs is considered. cyclical fluctuations, operations in one day are divided into time periods. In proposed we fares, headway, vehicle capacity, maximum fleet size, objective maximizing social welfare, subject to size capacity constraints. We find could avoid cross-subsidization among travelers different Under both schemes, headways satisfy same optimality condition: total rider waiting cost equals fixed supplier side. also demonstrate resource constraints (vehicle size) can be binding periods, unlike usual assumption literature only period highest Two extensions (considering financial constraint variable roundtrip time) investigated. The developed used facilitate schemes practical applications.

The Reliability-Based Stochastic Transit Assignment Problem with Elastic Demand

This paper examines the reliability-based stochastic transit assignment problem with elastic demand. A Variational Inequality (VI) model for this problem is developed. The VI model considers capacity, waiting time and in-vehicle travel time as stochastic variables, and includes Spiess and Florian’s (1989) and de Cea and Fernández’s (1993) models as special cases. A reliability-based stochastic ...

Fare Evasion in Transit Networks

Public transit systems in urban areas usually require large state subsidies, primarily due to high fare evasion rates. In this paper, we study new models for optimizing fare inspection strategies in transit networks based on bilevel programming. In the first level, the leader (the network operator) determines probabilities for inspecting passengers at different locations, while in the second le...

Optimization with the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations as constraints

In this paper, optimal distributed control of the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations is considered. The control problem involves the minimization of a measure of the distance between the velocity field and a given target velocity field. A mixed numerical method involving a quasi-Newton algorithm, a novel calculation of the gradients and an inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes solver, to find the opt...

An optimal policy for deteriorating items with time-proportional deterioration rate and constant and time-dependent linear demand rate

In this paper, an economic order quantity (EOQ) inventory model for a deteriorating item is developed with the following characteristics: (i) The demand rate is deterministic and two-staged, i.e., it is constant in first part of the cycle and linear function of time in the second part. (ii) Deterioration rate is time-proportional. (iii) Shortages are not allowed to occur. The o...

Two-Warehouse Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Time-Dependent Demand and Partial Backlogging Under Inflation

This paper deals with a two-warehouse inventory model for deteriorating items with time dependent demand and partial backlogging under inflation. It is assumed that deterioration of items follows two-parameter Weibull distribution and demand rate varies exponentially with time. Shortages are allowed and partial backlogging depends on waiting time of next replenishment. A numerical example is pr...
